-
- Yes, Postscript indeed and I have used both 4MP and 4MPlus PPD files.
-
- I did some testing with a PGS page showing this problem and I think I found
- the immediate cause! The four pictures (each 321 Kb, IFF 256 grey) on that
- page (A4 landscape) were slightly scaled down vertically (about 96%). When I
- returned the vertical scaling of the pictures to 100%, the page printed ok,
- with 600 dpi and full grayscale!
-
- However, there also seemed to be a 'quantitative' nature in this problem!
- If I erased one of the four scaled down pictures on that page, the printing
- quality was ok. Also, if I printed that page 'portrait' instead of 'landscape',
- the output quality of the printed area was again normal. I also tried to
- 'recreate' this problem with another PGS page on which the pictures were
- slightly smaller (282 K) than above, but the page printed ok despite of
- vertical scaling of the pictures.
-
- So, it seems that PGS has some 'internal' problem when it has too many and too
- large rescaled pictures to prepare for printing as landscape... (I had about
- 9 MB fast RAM available after having loaded PGS and the file, and there were
- no 'out of memory' warnings).
-
- If you need any further details, please ask!
